JUNE 3RD, 2007. TRAINING IN CULLERA
This was a particular training day. We were 14 people, that was the amazing part.
Miguel Angel Valero, David Molina and Samuel guiding the swimmers with 2 kayaks.
And Juan Antonio, Hector, Toni and Carlos, swimmming with me on relays.
Plus Susana -who did a good job putting the grease on my body- Lirios organizing my hydratation and feeding, Isma,
Pedro, Javi, Ana&Heinz, Silvia&Alvaro, Monica&Rafa.
I started with Héctor and Juan Antonio. Miguel Angel was in the kayak. The sea was perfect, steady, the
sun was shinning over the surface and I was enjoying the water, the sun, the mountains and my mates' company ... Miguel
Angel was so good with my feeding timing and his support, I felt so confident and secure with his guiding, he did a great
job in the first 2 hrs and I was feeling so good.
Then my first relay left and Carlos and Toni came into the water I was so happy to see them and
I asked to accelerate the swimming pace and we did. Also Miguel Angel left us and David&Samuel replaced him with
another kayak ...
The difficulty of the swim increased, the sea was wavy, Toni was a bit scared because he saw some jellyfish
...hehehe I wanted to be concentrated and I also was enjoying their company stroke by stroke.
But when I just had 40mins left to finish I was stopping quiet frequently, Carlos was starting to feel cold
and he went out of the water, I was swimming a bit alone after some minutes, David jumped in to make some company
because I told him I was feeling not very well.
Actually this is the first time in my life I was feeling sick. Ok, my shoulders were in pain, but that's
normal, but my stomach was sick, I wanted to vomit and I just wanted to finish the training and get myself out of the
water. Also not very good thought about my objective, which was not good.
David decided to swim closer to the beach so my other friends could swim with me, and it was a great surprise
to see Pedro, Javi and Ana ..I swam for the rest of the time and Javi was cheeing me up. David came to stop me and then
Alvaro approached me to calm and to support me, giving good advices and showing his care...that was brilliant ..then
I was sick, finally everything was out of my body. I stayed there for a while until I could go out of the water.
But seeing the rest of my mates on the beach was a great booster for me, that made the difference and I
am so -happy and proud of them, they do not know how good I felt when I was them, even though the world was spinning
around me all the time.... gosh!! I was so seasick .. but to cure the 'sickness' we had a huge meal on a rest at the beach
and we had a pleasent time! ...
Thank you guys: EVERY SINGLE THING YOU DO, IS STAMPED ON MY MIND...
